Mary Swanson, assistant administrator for Kent County, has filled many roles during her career, but says the skills learned in an early journalism job have served her well in all capacities. GRAND RAPIDS — Her move may not have made "read all about it" headlines back then. But when Kent County Assistant Administrator Mary Swanson left the fifth estate for the public sector, it certainly was newsworthy to readers of the Holland Sentinel.
